The 39th Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Kho-Kho Championship and Selection Trials, which open the door to the national stage for the state’s emerging kho-kho talent, will be hosted in Mumbai this year. Approved by the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association and jointly organised by the Mumbai Kho-Kho Association and Shri Samarth Vyayam Mandir, Dadar, the championship will be held from 25 to 28 December 2025 at the Mumbai Physical Education Institute, Sahakarnagar, Wadala. This information was shared by the Association’s General Secretary, Dr. Chandrajit Jadhav.

Shri Samarth Vyayam Mandir, Dadar and Mumbai Kho-Kho Association President, Adv. Arun Deshmukh, said, “Hosting this sporting event is a moment of immense pride for us during the post-centenary journey of Shri Samarth Vyayam Mandir. As we honour the legacy of our recently completed 100 years, this championship aims to promote physical fitness among youth, encourage competitive spirit, and preserve the rich tradition of Indian sports.”

This championship will serve as the selection platform for the 35th National Sub-Junior Kho-Kho Championship, to be held in Haryana, resulting in heightened excitement and intense preparation among young players across the state. Eligibility is restricted to players under 14 years of age (born on or after 5 February 2012). Entries must be submitted via email by 11:00 a.m. on 22 December, and player reporting is compulsory by 5:00 p.m. on 24 December. Only players affiliated with Association-recognised districts will be permitted to participate.

The Mumbai event is expected to be a golden opportunity for aspiring kho-kho players from across Maharashtra. “This championship will be a decisive step for those aiming to shine at the national level,” Dr. Jadhav added.
